The LOw Frequency ARray, LOFAR, is a radio telescope working at the lowest frequencies accessible from Earth.

LOFAR consists of many "stations" which are each composed of a large number of dipole receivers. The majority of these are in the Netherlands, but there are also stations in Germany, France, the UK, Sweden and Poland.

The UK's LOFAR station, the Rawlings Array, is based at the Chilbolton Observatory in Hampshire.
