Welcome Reception
The NAM 2023 Welcome Reception will be held at the Voco St. David's hotel, in Cardiff Bay, from 6pm to 9pm on Sunday 2nd July, where you will be offered canapés and a choice of drinks. We also have the pleasure of hosting a performance from the Cardiff Male Choir during the Welcome reception.
During the reception, the NAM 2023 Help Desk will be open for attendees to sign-in (i.e. receiving your participant lanyard), and LOC members will be available to answer questions about conference events.
How to get there
The fastest way to reach the Voco St. David's Hotel from Cardiff city centre is to take a train from Cardiff Queen Street station to Cardiff Bay (approximately 2 mins trip). On Sundays, trains are every twenty minutes and the last one is at around 9:30pm. From the Cardiff Bay train station the hotel is ∽10min walk - see here.
There are also convenient buses that connect the city centre to Cardiff bay in ~10min journeys, namely bus number 6 - "The Bay Car". On Sundays they run every thirty minutes and the last return service is at 8:25pm. These buses stop in front of the Millenium Centre, which is a ~10min walk to the venue.
If you chose to walk all the way, it should take you about 30-35min from the city centre. We recommend walking via the Lloyd George Avenue rather than the smaller streets of Butetown - please check out our advised walking route here. This route will take you past the Millenium Centre, Pierhead building and then walk along the bay front to reach the hotel.
